Who Hung the Drapes?

Another fine design by Duke Dejong. This design used 10′ wide by 20′ tall strips of white Poly Sheen fabric scrunched together to give it some texture. It was hung from a floor supported truss structure. The fabric had a pipe pocket sewn onto the top of the fabric, was threaded with a pipe, and  the pipe was tied to the truss.  The fabric was lit from both the bottom and the top using LED fixtures which allowed Duke to light the fabric in one color or two. The vertical truss pieces were all lit from the bottom with LED’s as well to give them a warm look.

  1. Praise Jesus, I'm a new pastor and was praying for ideas for the church platform and believe me this is Awesome, this setup drapes and al is A+++++.

P.S. can you tell me where you got the cross?

    Sincerely Pastor Dave, Miami

    • Pastor Dave,

That cross was something we actually had a local metal artist custom make for us. To my knowledge it is one of a kind, though I don't remember it being terribly complicated to make. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

      • I thank you for the reply, and I really love and appreciate your work. But I would like to ask a favor, and that is if you can have that same cross made, and I would pay the cost along with shipping and also for your time? The plan is to duplicate your work here in Miami. I'd be ever so grateful, Dave

  2. Where did you get the panels from? Were they custom made or bought like that. I am looking for extra long panels for my church

    • Temi, so sorry I missed this post. The fabric was purchased from Rosebrand (Poly Sheen I believe) and we simply sewed a pipe pocket in the top, put a pipe through it and then bunched the 10 foot wide fabric into only being about 6-8 feet wide. It was really simple.

  3. How much did the cross cost?

    • Taylor, sorry, missed the post way back when. We had the cross custom welded for us and I honestly don't remember how much it cost. I want to say something like $2,000 but I really am not sure.

  4. I have a few questions as we are trying to do a similar look at our church:

    1. Did you use fire retardant material for the drapes?

    2. Do you know the type of LED lights used?

    3. Do you know the approx cost?

    Thanks so much!

    • Nicole,

      1) ALWAYS use IFR (inherently fire retardant) or FR (fire retardant) material and keep the certificate saying it is so on file. Your fire marshal has every right to make you take it down if you don't. Also know you can't wash FR material without retreating it after washing.

      2) We were using the Elation Design 36 LED's at that time. They have since been replaced with much better and more cost effective options. If you need some help finding those feel free to email me. (ddejong@ccisolutions.com)

      3) Cost of the fabric? Based on what I remember it was around $500. The truss and LED's we'd purchased much earlier and would be significantly more expensive.

If there is anything more specific you want to know or need help, please feel free to email me.
