Particles of Christmas

Ben Wysong from LifePointe Christian Church in Elk Grove, CA brings us their homemade Christmas particles stage design.

The light panels were made out of Compressed Styrofoam that was then painted black. 1 panel was two 4’x8′ styrofoam panels taped together. They took Christmas lights and poked them through the styrofoam at random to give it a “starry night” feel. Each panel took about 6 boxes of 300 lights. They were standing by a wood frame that was built, and then tacked in at the top. The fabric around the wood frame was fabric that the church already had.

They purchased the two paper mache words HOPE and JOY from Joanns, and spray painted them gold. They were attached to the wall with outdoor mounting tape. Then they wrapped their Christmas trees with burlap, and scattered them around the stage for that further Christmas feel.

This looks great. Did you make the “Hope” and “Joy” or purchase it as is and just paint it?

We’re the lights solar so you didn’t have to plug them into a power point?

  17. Patricia says:

Did the Christmas lights get too hot for the board at all? I’m thinking of this same idea, but with my church’s VBS which is galaxy-themed. I’m afraid that the Christmas lights will heat up too much which may pose a problem.
