Stage Designs

Woven Bubbles

Kelly Craig from Church on 53 in Fremont, OH brings us this towers of bubble wrap and plexiglass. (Originally posted December 2012)

For this design they built two free-standing frames (outer stage left and right) out of 2x4s and PVC pipe. The outer frame was wood and the inside poles were PVC. Then they weaved two different sized bubble wrap strands back and forth between the poles. They used LED light bars (at bottom) to light the bubble wall.

On either side of the center screen they built two boxes from wood (stacked on top of each other). Inside these were 6 LED can lights (3 on top and 3 on bottom). Each box was covered in frosted plexiglass. They used thin luan, painted black, to create the blackout effect. They placed it in random places to create the look they wanted.

In front of the stage they had two small trusses which each had a TV mounted to them.

Any way you could post some close up pics of what everthing looks like with the LED’s off and regular lights on? I would love to see some close up pics of those center light boxes by the center screen.

Are your ceiling tiles black? Have they always been?
