Tired

Matt Carroll from Gadsden Christian Fellowship in Gadsden, AL brings us this fun use of tires.

They designed this for their youth center.

They started by placing wooden pallets on the back wall. Then they attached six tires that they painted white. Inside the tires they clamped six utility lights and put them all on one channel to make blinders.

They used Chauvet Colordashes to downlight them.

To the left and right of that they made two 4×8 Coroplast walls out of 2x4s. They used Chauvet Colordashes to uplight.

They also used 11 lantern lights from World Market to hang from the ceiling. They put them on one channel to control the brightness.

I love the blinder look! Where did you get your blinders from?

Hello Justen! We made those out of clip on work lights purchased at a local hardware store and connected them to one channel on the dimmer pack. We used 150 watt clear bulbs I believe.

Did you make the drum riser or was that a premade purchase?

I’m guessing they made it. We have done a similar deal with our drumriser. Looks like they use sheets of cloriplast. I used material around my drumrisers. If you already have the risers this is a very easy and inexpensive look to replicate.

That was a premade purchase. I just cut a sheet of coroplast to fit and backlit

where is the cheapest place to get coroplast?

  6. Matt says:

We bought ours from a plastic’s distribution company, but you can also contact any sign shop they stock it.

    Are the tires painted white?
