Stage Designs

Templed

Andrew Sapp from Mt. Olive Ministries in Cleveland, TN brings us this ancient temple stage design for their VBS.

From Andrew: We wanted to take kids on a journey around the world and for our stage to have an Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider feel as well as a splash of Legends of the Hidden Temple.

The majority of the set structures for the temple were previously designed columns cut out of foam, hard coated and painted to look like stone. The stone wall was foam as well. For the jungle scene we copied the look of the journey off the map set. The hut was made out of 2x4s and then we used bamboo and grass table skirts from hobby lobby for the roof and side poles. Bushes and vines were purchased at Hobby Lobby as well. The torches were cut tiki torches with led candles in them. For the snow scene we used a backdrop from the Everest VBS a few years back and just used cotton filling for the snow. The statues you see in each scene were also made from hard coated foam. They were cut and then painted to achieve the desired look. Also from a previous set.

Total cost for new materials used for this set was roughly around $250. Most of the pieces were recycled from previous sets we had built.
