Stage Designs

Purple and Green

Angela Yee from University Covenant Church in Davis, California brings us this great use of contrasting fabrics.

They used two types of fabrics: a polyester lining (chosen because it’s a cheap solid-colored cloth that drapes well), and shimmer organza, which is iridescent (blue-purple and green-red).

They hung the fabrics on their boom and used a steamer to make those wrinkles disappear as they raised the booms.

The lighting was done using their fresnels above and 4 pars to under-light. There were minimal gels — a red one or two to bring out the red in the green shimmer organza, which has red threads in it.

The center opening was made using a griff clip attached to the edge of the fabrics and lifted up with a black rope.

Beautiful design with simple but elegant color usage. Where in the design is the polyester lining fabric used, and what is the height of your ceiling that this backdrop is projected over?
