Don Beardsley from Gateway Baptist Church in Mackenzie, Queensland, Australia brings us this awesome homemade cathedral in their building that they projected onto.
From Don: We put together our stage design for our Christmas series of Hope. While the set is intended for our Carols services we decided to install it for our whole December series to build some anticipation.
The frame is made of structural pine covered with sheets of MDF cut to shape. Each of the segments is painted white allowing us to then project our Cathedral design onto it among other things.
Each of the cathedral towers stands around 7 metres while the centre structure is roughly 6 metres at the tip and the two side wings are roughly 5 metres tall.
The entire structure is screwed into the floor at the base of each panel and then mounted to the roof at the back of our proscenium arch.
All up the materials for the structure cost around $2K to build it. We are using projection mapping software with four separate projectors to cover the surface of the installation. Each projector is projecting one quarter of the set alighted together into one massive design using the software.
I see MAonPC for lighting, what server and projecting mapping software are you running?
We run projection mapping from a Mac using Areana 6 (resolume) that is linked to MAonPC Via DMX to trigger timecode during songs. Server wise there I’m not too sure.
At first, I thought it was photoshopped. Then I scrolled down and saw it’s for real, and it’s massive!
