Duncan Campbell from New Braunfels Church of Christ in New Braunfels, TX brings us this metallic stage design.
From Duncan: The stage was designed around the current worship theme of Greater Than. I wanted to go for a metallic look to complement the series graphic. I used corrugated aluminum cut at 45º to make the “greater than” symbol in the negative space. The symbol repeats in several set pieces.
I cut the aluminum at an angle, then sandwiched it between two boards, and screwed them all together. The tall pieces and lectern facia have the full Greater Than symbol. The lamp covers have the middle part exposed to reveal more light and give a slightly different look. For the lamp shade covers, once I sandwiched the aluminum, I folded them back to form a curve then secured with support boards on top and bottom. After I was finished, I split some vinyl tubing and covered all the sharp edges (aluminum is extremely sharp). The tubing is invisible from the pews. To keep the inside point from protruding forward or backwards, I affixed it to the top and bottom pieces using fishing line and packing tape. This is also invisible from the pews.
