David Tatum from Covenant Community Church in Vacaville, CA brings us this pallet design with a cross shining through.
This design was inspired by some of the other wood pallet designs on this site. The initial design was a wooden wall made from broken down pallet wood and 2×4 framing. The pallet wood was basically donated and the 2×4 framing cost around $350 plus nails. They had all the lighting already.
In order to control the light from shooting to the ceiling, they used Coroplast sheets that they had from another project to trap the light on the back side of the wall. The cross was framed out and then they used fabric to cover the space.
The initial design was created for a sermon series on Psalms. Then they converted the stage, cutting out some sections, rearranging, painting, and adding a few pieces to get the new design. The second design was for their series called “Imperfect Church”, based on the letter to the Corinthian church. Converting the stage was cheap and cost around $40 for spray paint and stencils.
What kind of light did you use to light up the cross? Did you use it from behind or in front?
