Glistening Brightly

Anthony Williams from Northwood Church in Mississippi brings us this glittery beauty.

They built this set for a women’s event called “Happily Ever After.” The jewels and chandeliers were made of acrylic and were bought for about $1000 total. They bought the jewels and chandeliers from www.shopwildthings.com. The jewel strips were lit on the top and bottom with American DJ Megabars and the chandeliers were backlit with LED Par64’s. Check out a video of the set being used during a service:

    Anthony,

This looks great. I love the shimmer you get from the beads. Wonderful use of a beautiful material. Keep up your amazing work for our savior!

That is awesome! My mind is currently spinning on how I could do something similar for Christmas.

    Anthony,

Awesome job man! Where to do you position the LEDs for the chandeliers? What do you mean by backlit? I’m sorry kinda just starting and not familiar with the terms.

    Thanks a lot!

      Hi Jonathan.

Thanks for the positive feedback. The LED par64’s were positioned directly behind the chandeliers (you can see them in some of the pictures). We experimented with the angle until it looked right. I’m sure that it would work with the light in front too, though. If you have time to play around with light positions and angles try to see what works best for you. One key to making this set pop is to try and keep the “key” or spot lights off the colored jewels. I hope this helps.

        Thanks Anthony,

This will greatly help me finalize the stage design for our new church building. Thanks for the inspiration. Keep rocking!

We are currently working on constructing a set just about like this one. Did you build the chandeliers yourselves or did you purchase them pre-built? Do you have dimensions for them?

    Hi Nathan

I am currently building some Chandeliers similar to those in this design for our Christmas Stage Set this year.I am using beaded door curtains to recreate the effect. I was wondering if you could tell me what size were the ones you got from the website. I have had a look but its hard to know how big or small to go.

    Thanks for your time.

      Hi Bek.

We bought the large chandeliers for our high ceilings, but since you’re making your own, you have the luxury of taking measurements to get exactly what you want! It really depends on how many musicians/dancers/etc. you will have on the stage at one time, and where they will stand. One thing you don’t want to do is have stage design in the way. You can see stage design fails on YouTube and laugh all day. This design is really very simple, yet elegant. The key is lighting. This can be just a kinda cool design or something that makes people say “wow.” Play around with your placement and lighting and I think you’ll have a great design.
