From Brandy: When you lack the funds to have an LED wall, you fake it. We went with light-weight foam panels (link below) suspended from our stage batons with 1/16″ gauge cable. We attached the foam at the corners with skewers and velcroed the back of the foam to the front edges of stage risers. Currently, the foam panels are backlit with LED wash movers and LED strip lights. We have plans to projection map on the foam panels for our Easter services.
The foam we used is described as flexible low-density polyethylene foam and is highly resilient, shatterproof and tear resistant.
This is awesome. Do you think the same look could be achieved with a white coroplast? Is there a reason you didn’t do corrugated plastic?
We’ve used coroplast a lot—it’s a fantastic material. I think you could get a similar effect from coroplast. For this set, we wanted to use something that had some thickness to it. The way the foam diffuses the light is a lot more desirable than what we could achieve with coroplast.
