Stage Designs

Disco

Shane Tucker from LifePoint Church in Columbus, OH brings us this discotheque stage design.

During their Soul Train series they highlighted a specific Psalm each week.

They rigged up a disco ball to the ceiling. Because they did not want to waste the DMX controls for raising and lowering the ball, they just ran a rope back to their video/audio booth and raised and lowered it with a counter weight. That also made it less expensive because they only needed the ball, rope, and some PVC to thread it through.

They also cut small pieces of opaque plastic and hot glued string to the top and bottom of each piece. They made 10 foot sections to span the distance from the bottom of their screens to the floor. They hung them then uplit the plastic with LED lights and set a small fan on stage in oscillate mode to make the pieces move and shimmer in the light.

The disco ball was $80 including the motor to make it spin. The plastic was $45. The string was inexpensive kite string.
