Chip Anthony from Calvary Fellowship in West Hartford, CT brings us this stage design for their series on Nehemiah. (Originally posted February 2013)
They plan to build the wall as the series progresses so the wall will be finished by the end of the series.
To create this, they used Vacuform stacked stone wall from Rose Brand. They also primed and painted the wall and backed them using some 1-inch thick foam from Lowes. They used Source 4 and pars for lighting the wall.
In total, the set was 8 feet 6 inches high and just over 12 feet long.
Budget: $900.
Thanks for posting.
I’m very proud of our team that designed and executed this; they really did a great job. It’s been cool having the visual of the wall being “rebuilt” on stage each week.
It’s also noteworthy that we are a portable church meeting in a high school. So the set had to be designed to be unpacked, set-up, broken-down and packed again each week.
Bill,
I’m looking for stage designs that are easily portable and don’t need to be hung on anything for conferences that are held in a hotel. Since your church is portable could you give me any more tips on that and also how you broke this one down as well? Thanks!
Hi Chris,
For this particular set, the wall is comprised of 3 main pieces that make it easy to take apart. There the two columns on the outside and then the wall in between.
Each column has a cut out in it where the wall can slide right in and when service is over, it comes right out. It makes it very easy to setup and tear down each week. Also, each peace of the wall (8 total) gets taped into place week by week as we rebuild the wall.
I can take a few more pictures if you would like, and I would be happy to talk to you about some of our other portable stage sets Calvary Fellowship has done in the past. Just shoot me an email!
