Throwback: Compressed

Josh Williams from Lowcountry Community Church in Bluffton, SC brings us this stack of a stage. (originally posted Oct 2012)

Their total budget was around $250.

They started by building frames out of 2x4s. They were 12×6 feet. They added 8-foot by 6-inch wood underlayment that they painted white. They spaced them 6-inches apart. They list them with two LED COLORado 2’s hanging above each frame.

To add the glow around the drum risers they used wax paper. They wrapped it with the paper and added four COLORado 2’s behind the paper to make it glow.

They lit the back band with three COLORado 1’s above the risers, and two COLORado 2’s from the side. The front was lit by 2 COLORado 1’s and 6 COLORado 1’s, along with some Leiko’s for face lighting.

Love this!!! Way to go tiny budget!!!! Can’t wait to get more light flexibility. Btw would be great to have a dynamic search for the site that included platform size or budget size!

Love this look! We are wanting to do something similar. How has the waxed paper held up? Has it gotten torn and needed to be replaced? Also, it doesn’t appear to be pieced together in the photo. It looks like one, long sheet of paper that was wide enough to reach the top and bottom of the riser. Is that correct? Can’t decide if we should use the waxed paper or a sheer fabric… Thanks for sharing your photos and info!
