Chalked

Eric Crews from Williamsburg Seventh-day Adventist Church in Williamsburg, VA brings us these homemade chalkboard panels.

They were doing a six week series based on 6 parables from Luke. They designed these six panels with each having one of the parables. They bought the panels precut from Lowes. They covered them in Contact Chalk board paper they got from Amazon. The contact chalk board paper wasn’t as wide as the boards. So they built a border around the boards using rolls of burlap they got at Walmart. They used a staple gun to attach the burlap and trimmed the excess. Once the boards where completed, a talented member drew the corresponding parable each week prior to the service. At first, they thought chalk would work. The contact chalk board paper isn’t very rough and the chalk just didn’t stand out. So they switched to oil pastels which worked great.

  1. I really like this idea. It could be really versatile. I wonder if LED’s were shot on it, how well it would stand out. hmmm…. I may have to do some experiments.
