Throwback: Unfiltered

Diane Chesnutt at Saint James United Methodist Church in Montgomery, AL brings us this design using coffee filters and bubble wrap! (Originally posted May 2012)

Materials:

  • 14 strips bubble wrap – 24” X 10’
  • 560 coffee filters
  • 10 rolls double sided tape

Very simply, they unrolled the bubble wrap and stuck coffee filters on using strips of double-sided tape. They applied the coffee filters in a checker board pattern. Then they weighted each bubble wrap pannel at the bottom to keep it from moving.

They used leftover bubble wrap from a previous set and has the coffee filters donated. So the only expense was the tape ($35).

Total man hours: 18 hours.

    Diane,

This looks amazing! Great job on using materials not thought of for stage design. Keep up the good work for the Lord!

Very Impressive! Just curious, how long was this up? Did the double sided tape hold well enough?

The concerning factor is- have you ever tested to see what happens with a flame test and these materials? very flammable – please be careful with both filters and bubblewrap.
