Ship Ahoy!

This stage design was used in May of 2009 at First Assembly of God in Cedar Rapids, IA and created by Duke Dejong.  It utilized curved 4′ x 4′ coroplast squares in columns with circular hanging lamp shades from IKEA under the projection screen.  The entire design was supported by a 1 foot box trussing connected at the top with black painted 1 1/2″ pipe.   Continue Reading…

This was a stage design created for FBC Lafayette‘s Youth DiscipleNow. Using 10′ wide Taipei Silk from Dazian Fabrics, they created an awesome backdrop flown from their 40′ ceiling. Although you cant see it very well in the photos, they used 4′x8′ sheets of white coroplast hung in a random pattern used as an additional projection screen/backdrop. Continue Reading…

The Holy Trinity of Spandex

Josh Parrish rocked this sweet little stage design that you could recreate for about $650, plus a few LED par cans and two flat screen TVs. The truss elements are actually antennas that you can pick up at your local pro electronics store. They run for about $90 each. At the Summit Church in Corpus Christi, Texas, we wanted an amazing stage design but didn’t want to spend a bunch of money just for something cool. So between a year or so of planning and quite a few sketches, I finally settled on the approach I wanted to take. Check out the pictures below.
