Throwback: Sticks

Matt Hemmele from Northwoods Community Church in Peoria, Illinois brings us these wooden trusses with hovering stick clusters above. (Originally posted May 2012)

They built this set for their high school room.

To start, they created four 2’x2’x8′ wood truss towers out of 2×2’s. Then they created the floating sticks out of painted wood 1×2’s. They painted them in a monochromatic scheme and hung them from the ceilings.

To create the lighting in a room with power restrictions, they ran strategic extension cords to the ceiling as well as a DMX line up and back down. They used six AmericanDJ DJ Spot 250’s, eight Chauvet LED Par 56’s, and four Par 64 cans. They supplied the haze using a Chauvet Hurricane.

Total cost for the entire look, lighting included, was around $7,000. The set alone was under $500.

Is it possible to get more detailed information on this set? I’d like to use it but don’t really know where to start.
