This genius stage design by Austin Whelan and his boss at Hope Church in Dallas, Georgia looks like it cost thousands to put together. In truth, it cost about $500. Awesome, eh? (Originally posted September 2010)
They put this together for their 7th annual Hands of Hope community outreach project. The X’s were put together using PVC pipe and then wrapped with a very thin cloth. The walls have aluminum sheeting that you can purchase at Home Depot. Then the bottom square panels are actually garage doors that were donated. They accented the boxes with butcher paper and lights. Go innovation!
how did they get the X's lit up so evenly?
Looks like they lit the X's from ceiling trusses…which allowed the beam to spread more evenly. (just my best guess)
haha. you are correct mr. jonathan. I used wire to hold them up. Thanks again for posting! you da man FO real!
why thank you :)
Awesome execution Austin!
Jonathan, I notice most of the designs here have a black background. Is there a reason for this? What are the pros and cins?
Thanks!
Check out this weekly email to see my thoughts on black backgrounds. :)
