Ben Kirk from Raleigh Assembly of God in Memphis, TN brings us this Weave design that also takes projection.
They had only $500 and one week to get this project done. The whole team spent long days and late nights to see this come to pass.
The Structure
These are the vertical pieces that you weave your Coroplast around. You can make these any thickness you want, but they made theirs 6 inches. They made their structure out of Coroplast, which they regretted in the long run. (Coroplast can sag and warp.) They wished they would have used 1/4″ pine lumber. Then they spaced their structure 4 feet apart so they could support the Coroplast at the seams.
The Weave
These are your Coroplast pieces that weave in and out through your upright ribs. Coroplast can be purchased online or by most sign and screen-print suppliers. They’re in Memphis and they used a company called “tubelite”.
Since Coroplast comes in 4’x8’ sheets, they cut them in half horizontally and made each weave 2’x8’. They simply built their structure and wove the horizontal pieces in between the ribs.
that’s pretty cool! Seems like using 1/4″ pine would also be subject to droop, maybe luon instead, but would you staple it to trick line? how did you attach the coroplast to the strings?
We used small steel rods to thread the string through the holes in the coroplast.
