Patrice Thomas from Word of Life Santa Barbara in California brings us this great portable solution inspired by Texturesized.
They setup and break down weekly at two different venues (Sundays and Wednesdays). So they wanted a very quick-and-easy to setup element for their stages. So they had someone sew some black curtains for them. Then they used strips of weedblock grunge painted white over the curtains. They used four LED fixtures to light them. Easy setup–only 20 minutes!
Awesome! Simple is always better in my book!
What kind of paint did you use on the curtains? And how much was the total cost for it.
We used weed-block from Home Depot ($22) and flat white paint ($17). The LED lights were around $400. The white paint absorbs the color of the lights. =)
Cheap and awesome!! Excellent Job guys!!!
You got the White to reflect the color so well, by using the Weed-Block? did you use a black light to get it to reflect in such an impressive way?
Looks awesome, And wanna do it for an upcoming event. wondering if you could give me a play by play on how you mixed the paints.
Can you used stage lighting as well or does it have to be LED?
I had to google weed block, I didn’t know what that was, I’m in Australia, so we might call it something else, but can you tell, me why you used weed block fabric??
It is similar to canvas. But it comes in a roll so it would be infinitely cheaper. It is already black; so they only had to paint it white.
An inexpensive black poly/cotton fabric would probably work.
