Plane Formations

Mallori Reed from Grace Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma brings us this traveling stage. (originally posted April 2015)

Their plane stage was inspired by the verse in Matthew 7:13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” The black planes represented the world, dark and on a wide path, heading down toward destruction.

The black planes were foam glider planes bought at Dollar Tree. Mallori carefully spray painted them black. Then they attached them to the stage wall using push pins in the plane tail. The center airplane was a large orange poster board folded into a plane. They used black material to black out the sides of the stage, to help draw the eye to the center design. Total cost: $52.

Totally fun! Do you mind if I ask how you spray painted foam? Did it cause it to melt?

  2. Mallori says:

As long as you spray using the recommended distance from the object, the chemical turns to a fine powder in the spray before coming in contact with the foam.
