Once Was Blind

Chris Barbee from Piedmont Church in Macon, GA brings us this stage design featuring blinds.

They wanted a simple but visually stimulating backdrop for their student warehouse. Their stage area is small, so they needed something that didn’t take a lot of space and they needed something cheap. So they took a previously built framed wall (previously held a pallet wall) and stripped the pallets off it. They sprayed it black and then purchased several Ikea pleated blinds (about $2 a piece) to hang on the wall. The wall was 12′ high by 24′ wide. So they attached the blinds at the top and then attached blinds in the middle and at the bottom to prevent movement from the HVAC. They used a staple gun to attach the blinds.

In all, they spent $30 for the design and it took a few hours. The hardest part was trying to line up the pleats. For this, they used a hot glue gun and a few hands holding the pleats together.
