Makeshift Ladders

Tommy Cash from Citymark Church in League City, TX brings us these towers of staggered wood panels. (Originally posted June 2014)

This project was a six-day build—with 12-16 hour days and four volunteers.

They built the 8 platforms, 6 back drops, and 24 surrounds for the platforms. This set up was completely modular, so it could be assembled, disassembled, and reassembled very quickly.

The wood slats were 1 x 2’s and 1 x 4’s painted grey and bolted to a 2 x 4 frame. The wood slats on the platforms had banner paper from Hobby Lobby on them so that they glow.

This build is all wood, paint, screws, lag bolts, banner paper, and LED lighting. The platforms with carpet, surrounds, and backdrops cost about $1500.00.

Tommy’s company designs, builds, and installs stages, stage designs, lighting, sound, and HD media systems.
