Intersection

Jay Usher from Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany, Indiana brings us this great use of some common materials. (originally posted November 2016)

This design incorporates wood slat panel frames with crushed aluminum screening and floating Edison light bulbs.

Here are the material details from Jay:

4′ x 10′ 1.5″ x 1″ frames w/ 2′ o.c. cross-members (10 ft. 2 x 4’s ripped down to 1.5″ x 1″ and painted flat black) with 3/4″ x 6″ rough dog-eared cedar fencing w/ dog-ears trimmed off) spaced 1″ apart. Stained w/ light medium oak polyurethane. 72″ wide by 100′ long bright aluminum screen, crumpled to 4′ widths. Each length stretched just enough to lay flat. Top and bottom of each panel was stapled to a 1″ x 1/2″ x 4′ wood slat, rolled back over itself and screwed to the black flat black painted wall. LED bar lighting from the bottom and 8″ LED Par lights from the top. Vintage Edison lights hung in left and right side alcoves.

Just wanted to say that I adore this website! Great work sharing the creations of such talented craftsmen and women! One thing that would be great is to have links to their work. For example, here, to have Jay Usher’s Instagram, Facebook or whatever platforms he shares his work on! That would be an ultimate way of feeding the creative ecosystem:-) Thanks for your work and for sharing people’s designs! Continue on:-)

Where did you get the screen from and what kind was it?
