Hang 10

Ken Neff from Christ Central (Kidz Studios) in Lake City, FL brings us this kids series stage design on the 10 Commandments.

For starters, they built a wooden frame lined with a large 10x20ft tarp and wrapped the edges with white sheets of cotton batting used for their Christmas decor. Then they brought up to the second floor, 1 1/2 yards of builders sand and spread 3-4 inches thick.

The sand was left up for the next month’s series of Madagascar, so it gave their muscles a break before its final home on our playground.

The sand castle was cardboard painted and then coated with glue for a thin layer of sand to stick. It was placed on concrete cinder blocks so one of their guitar players pedals were up out of the sand. Their lead guitar player stood on a 3×5 piece of pexiglass.

The wave was a 2×4 wooden frame covered in chicken wire and stuffed with white and two shaded of blue tissue paper. The surfboards were borrowed for the month from church members and beach balls hung down in the entire sanctuary.

They made the lifeguard stand from recycled 2x4s, primed and painted bright red. The umbrella was used from the stash of unclaimed items at the church’s lost and found.

They finished off with the band wearing beach attire and even sporting a few snorkels and flippers.

Estimated cost: $75
