Throwback: Digital Words

Brandy Gibson from Chestnut Ridge Church in Morgantown, WV brings us these cool digital looking words. (Originally posted April 2013)

They had over 500 glass bottles from their 2011 Christmas stage design that they wanted to reuse. They drew inspiration from old school Light Brights and went from there. Mocking up their stage in Illustrator made it easy for the production team to get on the same page, as well as making it easy to trace the letters by projecting onto 4’x8′ sheets of plywood. It also made quick work of bottle placement, allowing them to make a grid with a chalk line and drill holes with a 3″ diameter hole saw. To secure the bottles in place, they used clear silicone. In addition to the glass work, they took a small tree, flipped it (so it would look like roots) and hung it from one of their batons using four runs of 1/8″ cable.
