Stage Designs

Crinkle Cut

Caleb Forrest brings us this crinkly stage design from the youth room at Spring Creek Assembly of God in Edmond, Oklahoma.

They took down a beat-up metallic wall behind the stage, and repainted the wall to a neutral grey color. Then they introduced hung sheets of crinkled aluminum screening as columns on sides of the stage. These bad boys were lit with four par 64 LED’s from the ground.

Next, they created an atmosphere in the seating area that complimented the atmosphere on the stage. They hung columns of crinkled aluminum screening above the crowd that were lit by 4 more par 64 LED’s. The paint and aluminum screening can be bought from Lowe’s for about $275.

Wow, Caleb! Awesome job! You brought color through lighting and movement via texture to a monotone space. Thanks for sharing your talent!

The rolls are sold at 25 ft per roll. We bought 7 of those, 4 for the crowd and used the other 3 cut up for the back of the stage. What church are you designing for?? Interested to see results!

Okay Caleb… going to attempt to make this screen look "rockish" by hitting it with some spray paint. The look of the empty tomb is my final goal. Any suggestions?

If your going to use paint, i would suggest using paint that is glossy that will still shimmer like the aluminum does. You would lose the effect using a flat paint, the aluminum reflects the light when you shine it on the front of it, because it’s metallic. You could uplight the scene from the front with LED’s, and possibly put white lights behind the material facing out at angles around it, making a circle, to make it glow brightly to portray him rising again and that it’s empty and pure. What do you think? You can email me at calebforrest07@yahoo.com.
