Christmas Box

Shane Tucker from LifePoint Church in Columbus, OH brings us this very simple Christmas stage design.

Criteria:
1. 33 12-foot strands of warm led christmas lights (although the cords were green, they were dark enough to look black in their dark ceiling) which were $1.60 each from Wal-Mart.

2. They ran all of the lights to several extension cords and ran a heavy duty extension cord back through the ceiling to their control booth at the back of their auditorium. No DMX control, they just plugged in and stayed on the entire duration of the service.

3. They bought dozens of boxes from Uline (the boxes were $.91 each and were 12 inches by 12 inches). They took all of their cues on this one from here.

They lit the boxes with 16 Chauvet COLORdash Batten TRIs.

At the end of it all, they underestimated the cost and time of hanging the lights from their ceiling beams and did not consider the shadow that was placed on the stage subjects when the Source Fours shone through the hanging Christmas lights. For week two, they had to raise the lights up about 16 inches to miss the shadows.

Additionally, they did a fun video to stir up the interest of their congregation that you can see on Shane’s blog.
