Be aware of texture when designing your next stage. While a smooth, flat surface is the best for projecting an image onto, it’s not necessarily the best to project light onto. Some of the most interesting stage designs on the site make great use of texture.
You can easily infuse texture into your stage design by choosing materials that have varying shades of color or create small shadows when lit at an angle. You can also layer a translucent material on top of an opaque material to get a similar textured effect. Look for texture in the following designs and see how the concept might apply to your next design.
