Catch Some Waves

Matt Ludik at Grace Family Church in Durban, South Africa brings us this great set built on a tight budget. This design would be perfect for those one or two churches that are on budgets (notice my heavy sarcasm). :)

Matt and his team used metal frames they built for a previous set and fitted 3m (~9.84 feet for Yankees like me) lengths of Coroplast strips to them. They used hot glue to create tension at various points to form waves. (Inspired heavily by The Weave from this site.)

They then added fabric (4 x 5m Pongee) behind the waves, and pulled it into sharp diagonal triangles. (As of the writing of this article Rose Brand has Pongee on clearance.) Everything was lit with LED cans.

The Coroplast cost about $50(eqiv). The set took about 12 man-hours to build.

    Nice simple set.

How did you make this “wave” ? Are there additional supports behind the white waves?
