Stage Designs

Brilliant Fabric

Angela Yee from University Covenant Church in Davis, California brings us this colorful fabric piece.

This stage design was for their series on the Gospel of John (14 weeks long!).

The idea was to use two pieces of burlap fabric and some cheesecloth to create a tent-like look (she was inspired by the look from Israel).

They lowered our cyc booms and started tying up the fabric to the booms. Because the fabric was pretty light, fishing line was threaded directly into the fabric and used to tie the fabric to the black booms.

They had to attach additional lines after it all got pulled up — tying strings on both the front and back of the fabric helped it drape more like a tent.

Then they added lights and palm trees.

You can get more pics from Angela Yee on her blog post.

This is beautiful! We would like to do this for Easter. How much material did you purchase? Any other info would be great!!

I don’t quite remember the details but it’s something like
      • 20 yards of the lighter burlap
      • 7 yards of the darker burlap
      • 12 yards of cheesecloth.

The lift in the picture is exactly what our church needs. Any thought on the name or brand of this lift? I’m dying to know! :)

My tech guy says it is a genie lift. It is an old model that someone bought used and donated to the church. Looks like there are newer models now though!
