Throwback: Boxed

Clinton Self and Mason Kent from Abundant Life Church in Denham Springs, LA brings us these great Coroplast boxes. (Originally posted March 2012)

They went for an equalizer effect with this set. They cut Coroplast at different lengths and scored them on the sides. Then they created “boxes” out of them by folding the sides. Then they lit them with 40 Elation LED Strips.

They also used 13 HighEnd X-Spots, 6 Elation Powerwashes, and a diffusion hazer to create the foggy effect.

Awesome set! We’re doing something similar at my church (Bridgepoint Church in FL) for our series, Playlist.

What are you using for control?

    • Clint Self says:

      Glad you like it, Jason!

All of our fixtures are controlled by a Strand 520i board. Our HighEnd X-Spots are on one universe, while our Elation Powerwashes, LEDs, luminaries and hazer are on a second universe.

We actually designed this layout for our annual youth conference, Rev Conference. Afterwards, our senior pastor wanted to keep the design up. Here lately, we’ve been thinking about changing the order of the bars to make a sloping effect, rather than an equalizer effect.

Feel free to email me some photos of the design when y’all get it finished!

I’ve been trying to figure out where to get large coroplast. All I can find is the small squares as home depot or lowes. Any suggestions?

  3. Rafael says:

Could you send me some more pics on your design, especially the creation part of the coroplast boxes.
    thank you

  4. Jon Shepherd says:

Did you use white or clear coroplast?

  5. James says:
