Taylor Whiddon from Hope Fellowship in Frisco, TX brings us this these nice, mismatched slats as their stage backdrop.
All the wooden pieces were 1×4′s, 1×8′s, and 1×12′s. They were all painted in 3 different shades of gray to bring out different tones of color once lit.
To bring a little depth to the design they placed 2×4′s behind each column, then used a nail gun to attach the pieces of wood. The 2×4′s were screwed into the drywall.
They bought all the materials from Home Depot.

did you put a gloss in the paint or just use flat to paint the different greys? also what led lights are you usuing to shoot up on the wood panels? it looks like you have par led’s and then a long bar on the ground. thanks for the info. Looks really cool.

We used flat paint for the panels. We needed something that wouldn’t reflect while videoing the service. The LED lights are Elation Design Bricks. They are great fixtures! Super bright with a long throw. The par LEDs are called Stage Apes. They aren’t as powerful as the Design Bricks but they do the job for what we use them for.
This is very attractive for a low ceiling stage design. Where did you get the drum cage? Did you consider using a non refelctor material to absorb sound?
