Mike TenHaken from Word Of Grace Community Church in Sheboygan Falls, WI brings us this unique use of fabric covered squares.
They designed this tree using 77 one by one-foot squares cut from 2×2′s. They covered each square loosely with different colored green bed sheets. They made the trunk of the tree the same way, but with brown sheets. They hung each square from the truss work above their stage.
They added the words “A New Season” – crafted from a two-inch thick 4×8′ sheet of foam. Then they hung it in front.
They used ellipsoidals and auburn gels with white wash on the words to light it.
Cost – less than $100.

I write and speak about the creative process – especially for churches. Call me a resource for the church creative wanting to make their ministry better.
