Adam Neal from Journey Church in Raleigh, NC brings us this vintage design inspired by The Hotel.
Since their main stage was going to be used very diversely during this series, Adam needed something very light and easy to move. The 4′ x 8′ lattice frames seemed to be the best thing (Home Depot). He bought the fabric from a local “discount” store and simply stapled it around the lattice.
They used left over wood to build frames to go behind the lattice so it would stand straight. Then they simply bracketed the lattice to the walls.
The idea was to keep everything as “black and white” as possible, so he added some plain lamps with no shades. They plugged them into dimmer packs so they could control them during transitions.
They also decided to not put any backgrounds behind their lyrics for this series to keep everything uniform.
I write and speak about the creative process – especially for churches. Call me a resource for the church creative wanting to make their ministry better.
I have been looking at this for weeks, trying to come up with something for my church home. I want to try something like this. Love this so much, our walls are not black, but a soft grayish white color. I thought about instead of fabric, painting the boards a monochromatic gradient color and stenciling the Damask pattern over all in a golden color. Thanks for the inspiration!!
