Andy Krieger from Southridge Reformed Church in Kalamazoo, MI brings us these floating stained glass windows.
They needed a lot of stage space for dancers on Easter Sunday, so Andy decided to use hanging windows and their 3 screens to create a sacred, Easter look. The windows were cut from 1.5″ pink foam insulation and covered in white latex paint. The colors were simply light gels cut to size and stapled to the back of the foam. Then they were backlit with a standard ellipsoidal white light.
51 yards of cheap material from a fabric store was hung on the back wall and lit with 3 Chauvet LED panels. The black rectangle pieces hanging were from Studio Productions Inc and used as a scrim to reveal dancers behind them.

I write and speak about the creative process – especially for churches. Call me a resource for the church creative wanting to make their ministry better.
