AJ Parker from Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA brings us these store fronts from their 2010 Christmas set.
They constructed 4 store fronts–each 8′ wide and varying heights up to 14′. The windows and doors of the stores were actually a digital projection from behind. They covered the openings with a white, translucent fabric they found at a fabric store. Then they used 3 ultra short throw projectors to put up images of the inside of each store. They also used the projectors for graphics and motion backgrounds during the worship set.
The 2,500 lumen projectors are Hitatchi ultra short throw and only need 3-5 feet of throw depending on the side of the screen.

What was the total cost of this set? Too cool-Im trying to do the same for Christmas, expect only 3 store fronts.
Also, can you tell me what kind of fabric you used to make the storefront openings?

I don’t know much about fabric, so I can’t tell you what we used exactly. We just picked up the fabric from Hancock Fabric by going through all the isles and testing each one by lighting it up with an iPhone from behind to see which was the must transparent. Real technical, I know!!!
The whole build (without the cost of the projectors) was probably in the neighborhood of $1,500 if I remember correctly. The projectors we already had, but I believe cost close to $1,500 a piece.

AWESOME-I am going to get all the lumber tomorrow-I am borrowing projectors from a local school-do you still have the photos used in the scene? That would be a big help.

I have found that the underside is a great canvas. You can paint on the none water proof side and it’s VERY cost effective. Finally- they are virtually in distributable. Can be used inside or outside.
